Common questions
It depends on the produce and how fresh it was when you cut it — often up to about a week in the fridge. Sealing the cut face against air is what slows browning and drying out, so a halved avocado, lemon or onion generally keeps better in a pod than loose in the fridge or wrapped in cling film. Store it cold and use your own judgement, as you would with anything else.
The avocado pod is an oval, 14 × 11 cm, sized for a standard halved avocado with the stone left in. Larger varieties still seal — the wall stretches — but sit deeper in the dish.
Silicone can pick up strong smells over time. A rinse with warm soapy water clears most of it; leaving the pod open to air overnight clears the rest.
